Critically endangered species management for the Boral Northern Grasslands. (Pimelea Spinescens/Spiny Rice-Flower).

The Northern Grasslands Reserve contains two critically endangered species. The Spiny Rice-Flower (Pimelea spinescence subsp. Spinescens) and the Striped Legless Lizard (Delma impar). The Northern Grassland is also protected under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act (EPBC Act 1999) for being recognised as a Nationally Threatened Ecological Community of the Victorian Volcanic Pain (Natural Temperate Grassland).

Aus Eco Solutions strive to conserve and improve this ecosystem and have recently began collecting seed from the Spiny Rice-Flowers aimed at increasing the number of individuals on site. This in turn will help support the Striped Legless Lizard as the Spiny Rice-Flower acts as habitat for the lizard and grassland insects species all year round (Trust For Nature Pimelea Conservation Trust Fund 2015).

Below are some examples of Spiny Rice-Flowers on site
